Liverpool believe they can sign Kylian Mbappe in 2024

Real Madrid remains favourites to sign Kylian Mbappe next summer

According to a new report from L’Équipe, Liverpool are still interested in Kylian Mbappe, the captain of France and striker for Paris Saint-Germain. The Premier League team, who have maintained communication with Mbappé’s entourage over the years, apparently still think they have a chance of getting the Paris-born striker to England.

In an attempt to persuade the Monaco development school to finish college, the Merseyside club made moves in the market even before the Frenchman signed with PSG in the summer of 2017. When the youngster continued to play at Monaco in the first half of 2017, manager Jürgen Klopp allegedly flew to Nice on a private aircraft.

Anecdotally, it is said that Kylian Mbappe joined the aircraft, and it stayed in the air Corsica and the French Riviera for sufficient time for an interview to occur before landing back in Nice.

L’Équipe also reports that PSG and Mbappé have scheduled a date for a potential extension in 2024. Before making an important choice for his career, the striker is said to be considering all of his possibilities. According to reports, the Paris Club is in favour of the player’s decision, guaranteeing that the financial arrangement made in August between Mbappé and the president of the club Nasser Al-Khelaifi shields the team from a free transfer without payment.

With 23 points from their initial 10 games, Liverpool has had a strong start to the season thanks to some outstanding play from strikers Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo. However, having an outstanding player like Mbappe in the lineup would help the squad reach new heights.

It follows Mbappe’s third-place finish behind Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland of Man City at the Ballon d’Or presentation.

He was pictured slowly applauding’ Haaland as he worked his approach to the stage, prompting supporters to liken him to a ‘bored dad at a performance’.
