For Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined for a few weeks. with a ligament tear.

Sidelines. Speaking to the club website, assistant manager Pep Lijnders said: “First of all, some not-that-good news, Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game.

“So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let’s see after that.

“He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility. We will really miss him.”

Liverpool looks to virtually lock up a spot at Wembley before travelling to Craven Cottage when they play Fulham in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have been the competition’s past victors, having taken home the trophy in 2022. This season, they have a fantastic chance to repeat as champions in what might be an extraordinarily successful campaign for the Merseysiders.

Liverpool defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the FA Cup third stage on Sunday to begin life sans Mohamed Salah. Liverpool has only lost once in domestic tournaments this season.

The vice skipper of Liverpool got the injury during the team’s 2-0 Emirates FA Cup triumph over Arsenal this past weekend.
