Marc Overmars handed 1-year ban from Dutch football over sexually explicit messages

Overmars has played for Barcelona and Arsenal
Marc Overmars, who acknowledged sending offensive messages to female coworkers while he was at Ajax, has been barred from participating in football-related activities in the Netherlands for a year.
The legendary player from Arsenal served as the Dutch team’s director of football before quitting in February 2022 as a result of communications that occurred “over a long amount of time.”
During his illustrious playing career, Overmars played for Ajax, Barcelona, and the Netherlands. At the time, he expressed his shame about his “unacceptable behaviour.”
The Dutch Sports Tribunal (ISR) has mandated that Overmars not “exercise any function” with any Dutch FA-affiliated organisation for a period of two years, one of which is put on hold as published by The Athletic.
But the suspension won’t have an impact on his status at Royal Antwerp, a Belgian team he signed a month after leaving Ajax. However, the ISR asserted that the suspension could be brought before FIFA, the global regulatory body, for additional consideration.

Royal Antwerp, his current team, has not responded to the situation. When Overmars announced last year that he was leaving Ajax, he stated, “I am ashamed.” I was presented with reports regarding my behaviour last week. and how other people have perceived this.
‘Unfortunately, I didn’t realise that I was crossing the line with this, but that was made clear to me in recent days. I suddenly felt enormous pressure. I apologise.
‘Certainly, for someone in my position, this behaviour is unacceptable. I now see that too. But it is too late. I see no other option but to leave Ajax.
‘This also has a major impact on my private situation. That is why I ask everyone to leave me and my family alone.’
