Erik ten Hag eyeing move for Dutch international Brian Brobbey
Brian Brobbey has played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax
As Manchester United starts to organise their summer transfer window, Erik ten Hag is keeping an eye on Ajax attacker Brian Brobbey.
The Dutch striker debuted at Ajax in 2020, and the Old Trafford manager has experience working with him. Ten Hag isn’t losing hope that he will stay as United’s manager, and he’s currently deciding how he wants to improve his offence come summertime.
The club’s budget dictates that the Dutchman’s January forward addition will only be on loan. That would mean Brobbey, 21, cannot make a move during this window unless United can raise money out of thin air.
However, they will keep an eye on the Holland international as a possible Rasmus Hojlund rival up front. United will need a new frontman because Anthony Martial is poised to depart this summer when his current deal finishes.

Arsenal, who desperately need a goal scorer and have had their eye on Brobbey, is also anticipated to be shopping for a striker.
After going through Ajax’s development system, Brobbey made his debut in 2020 under Ten Hag, and he proceeded to rack up six goals in his first season. However, when the deal ended after the season, the Dutch striker departed the team and joined RB Leipzig.
In January 2022, he rejoined Ajax on loan after making just 14 appearances with the German team and failing to score. Back in Holland, Brobbey produced seven goals in twelve games to help Ten Hag and Ajax capture the Eredivisie.
After that, Ten Hag left for United, but it’s believed that during his first summer at Old Trafford, he made inquiries about signing Brobbey. After Ajax exercised their option to sign the striker for approximately £16 million, the player ultimately returned to the club permanently.
The new investors in United INEOS will make the ultimate decisions on acquisition now although Brobbey is still going to be inspected.
