Tottenham Hotspur will have many key players absent due to injuries

In an attempt to avoid losing in the Premier League for the third week in a row, Tottenham Hotspur will play Aston Villa in their own stadium on Sunday afternoon after the November international break.

Ange Postecoglou’s club came into the year’s last break reeling from back-to-back defeats by Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea, losing 2-1 to goals from Mario Lemina and Pablo Sarabia in injury time.

As a result, the Lilywhites have slipped somewhat behind their title contenders; they are now two points behind Manchester City, the defending champions, and sit fourth in the table, with Liverpool and Arsenal one point ahead of this weekend’s hosts.

Richarlison

The Brazilian forward Richarlison disclosed before the international break that he would be undergoing surgery to address a pelvic issue that had been bothering him for months, but he is expected to be back playing before Christmas.

Due to a hamstring procedure, Ryan Sessegnon has not yet played this season. Although Postecoglou has not stated when the winger will return, he has stated throughout the past several weeks that the player will be out for an extended period of time.

Alfie Whiteman

Alfie Whiteman, the custodian for Fringe, rounds out Spurs’ list of surgical victims as he recovers from an ankle injury. It’s unclear when the Englishman will be well enough to rejoin the team.

Cristian Romero

After receiving a simple red card for a studs-up charge on Enzo Fernandez during his team’s loss to Chelsea, Cristian Romero is serving his second of a three-game domestic suspension this coming weekend.

Yves Bissouma

Status: OutPossible return date: December 3 (vs. Manchester City)

Following his fifth booking of the Premier League season at the defeat to Wolves two weeks ago, Mali’s midfielder Yves Bissouma is placed on the disciplinary step for one match alongside Romero.
