Unai Emery beats Guardiola & Klopp for most wins in first 35 PL games in charge

Aston Villa are fifth in the Premier League table

Unai Emery has won 22 games in 35 Premier League matches, while Pep Guardiola won 20 matches and Jurgen Klopp 16.

Even though Unai Emery has only been at Aston Villa for a short time, his arrival has clearly had a significant impact on the team’s achievements and reputation in Europe; nevertheless, we may not have fully appreciated his influence.

After two victories before the end of October 2022, Emery took over an underperforming Villans team from Steven Gerrard. They desperately needed victories quickly to begin their comeback.

All it takes to see that Emery accomplished that is simply gazing at the statistics. He not only prevented their relegation but also led them to the top of the UEFA Conference League, where they are currently only one point behind Brighton in the Europa League.

Many may be excused for doubting Emery; his standing in England suffered greatly during his unsuccessful tenure at Arsenal, which fell apart towards the end due to a communication breakdown that was seen to be a major problem at the Emirates.

Nonetheless, the Basque manager left, helped Villarreal win the Europa League, and led the persistent underachievers in La Liga to a successful Champions League run before returning with much of his reputation restored.

He came back to the Premier League with a big task, but in the past year, he has exceeded expectations, amassing an incredible 71 points in his first 35 games as manager of the team.

Given Aston Villa’s comparative squads and financial situation, that works out to 2.02 per/game, which would have been sufficient to win the Premier League in two of the 31 seasons to date. This is incredibly outstanding.
