El Khayati scored the only goal for Mumbai City in their entire ACL 2023-24 campaign.
In a high-octane showdown in the AFC Champions League Group D, Mumbai City FC collided with Uzbekistan’s Navbahor FC. The Islanders, unfortunately, succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.
The initial spark came from The Islanders as they broke the deadlock and their tournament account, courtesy of El Khayati. However, the tables turned when Navbahor seized control with an exquisite freekick and a cleverly executed corner, propelling them into the lead.
Let’s take a look on the ratings:
Mumbai City FC(By Atawaris Warsi)
Mohammad Nawaz – 6.5
Displaying outstanding goalkeeping prowess throughout the full 90 minutes, Mohammad Nawaz fervently attempted to thwart Navbahor’s freekick goal. Despite his best efforts, a nuanced critique emerges as he could have optimised his positioning for the second goal.
Rahul Bheke – 7
The Islanders’ skipper exhibited remarkable strength, clinching victory in numerous aerial duels and executing impeccably timed tackles. His impactful contributions extended beyond, showcasing a versatile and commanding performance.
Rostyn Griffiths – 6
Had a pretty good game. He could have positioned himself better to save Navbahor’s second goal. Was substituted by Mehtab Singh in the 65th minute.
Tiri – 6.5
Forging a formidable partnership with Rostyn Griffiths, Tiri effectively thwarted multiple Navbahor attacks. His header presented a promising chance to equalize, but Tiri’s Achilles’ heel surfaced in the form of positioning and alertness lapses during the second goal.
Akash Mishra – 7.5
One of the best performers for Mumbai today. His overlapping runs, exquisite cross and brilliant offensive and defending transition was a delight to the eyes.

Greg Stewart – 8
Greg Stewart emerged as the standout performer for Mumbai City FC, showcasing unparalleled strength in fending off defenders, crafting scoring opportunities, and delivering exquisite passes that effortlessly navigated through the Navbahor players. His all-encompassing contributions marked a stellar display on the field.
