We played a more complete game, asserts Jamshedpur FC's Scott Cooper
Cooper feels it was a must win game for his side.
The Men of Steel, Jamshedpur FC were aggressive but most importantly clinical in front of goal against Hyderabad FC that led them to a commanding 5-0 victory. Scott Cooper called it a must win game after the defeat against Bengaluru FC in the last game. And, the boss couldn’t have expected this either.
Scott Cooper addressed the media after the game, finally, with a cheerful mood. Here’s what he had to say post the victory.
Thoughts on the game
Delighted Scott Cooper was straight forward asked about his conclusion from the game.
“It was one of those games where both teams knew they must win. We never came in with any illusions of anything else, or any excuses or anything prepared. We didn’t give our players anywhere to hide or anything they could hang on. Even being away from home, it was a must-win game,” he answered.
On the goals galore
The Men of Steel registered their first win of the season against Hyderabad FC, and they struggled for any after that until this game in the reverse fixture.
When the boss was asked what made the difference tonight, Scott replied, “Teams have seen us pass a ball, and make chances, but they haven’t seen us play a complete game. Tonight we played a more complete game and even then Rei (Tachikawa) and Jeremy (Manzorro) missed two huge chances.”
On Jamshedpur’s switch-off after the opener
Daniel Chima broke the deadlock in the second minute of the game. While trying to score further to put the game to bed, Jamshedpur’s defence looked shaky. And, it looked like only a matter of time before the Nizams could equalise.
Scoot Cooper discussed this spell of play as well, “At 1-0, I was actually very concerned. I was very frustrated because we had two of three players, maybe three is too harsh, but two players were not playing in the shape we practiced, and therefore, there was a 15-minute spell there that Hyderabad FC looked like they would score to get the equaliser.”
On the next game
Next Jamshedpur FC face the in-form Juggernauts at the Furnace in their last game before the break. The manager was asked how the team can take momentum from this game to get a positive result in the upcoming fixture.
The tactician asserted, “We can’t take anything into the next game. We just have to say okay, we can see the benefit of certain things we’ve said and done. Certain things we’ve done in terms of possession. We have to take the benefits, the proof, that these aspects have added more to our game and into the next game.”
