This win helped Odisha FC climb up to the third position in the ISL table.

Jamshedpur FC hosted Odisha FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Friday evening. The Men of Steel came into this game with one win in their last seven league games. On the contrary, the Juggernauts from Odisha FC had back to back wins in their kitty before tonight’s outing. The home side started on a positive note with a few early chances but failed to make the most of them. Odisha FC having started cautiously read the game well under Sergio Lobera’s constant tactical guidance.

After a deadlocked first half, Odisha FC stung the home side in the 56th minute thanks to Ahmed Jahouh’s delicate set-piece ball which was headed on target by the Fijian import Roy Krishna. Jamshedpur came close to scoring on several occasions but couldn’t convert their chances.

Here are the player ratings from the game:

Jamshedpur FC (By Manas Pratim Kashyap)

Rehenesh TP – 7

Lucky to have survived a 22nd minute scare when he went out of his box to dismantle Roy Krishna’s build-up. In the 24th minute he registered another alert save from a Jahouh shot deflected off Rei. He couldn’t do much to prevent Roy Krishna from heading the ball at the back of the net.

Laldinpuia – 6.5

The 27-year old Mizo defender was strong enough to brave the Odisha force down the left corridor. His 16 successful tackles in the league so far stand testimony to his outstanding display.

Pratik Chaudhari – 6

Did well to keep the Odisha attack in bay. Disrupted Jahouh’s cross from reaching Krishna once.

Rei Tachikawa –  6

The Japanese midfielder had some good chances early in the first half but lacked conviction. He was quick to regain possession and kept the pressure on Odisha FC up the pitch. Also didn’t shy away from taking those odd glory shots from outside the box.

Jeremy Manzorro – 7.5

Skilfully took set-pieces with great flight and curl thereby setting the cat amongst the pigeons inside the Odisha FC box. Also dropped down the pitch to perform his defensive duties at times. Played his heart out but for a losing cause. Easily one of the best players of the evening.

Imran Khan – 7

Shared great camaraderie with Dinpuia to play the ball up the pitch and create attacking moves for Jamshedpur FC. Waited cleverly wide on the left channel and dug in sharp crosses into the box at times.

Elsinho – 6.5

Partnered skipper Pratik Chaudhari in the heart of the defence. Had a tough time marking the runs of the fast-paced Fijian goal machine Roy Krishna.

Seiminlen Doungel – 6

Came close to opening the scoring early in the first half. Swapped channels with Sanan in the second half. But couldn’t get the link-up play right with his offensive colleagues. Was subbed off in the 63rd minute.

Nikhil Barla – 6.5

The 20-year old youngster was quick on the right wing. He stayed high and wide, trying to give the attacking advantage to Jamshedpur. Relaced by Semboi Haokip in the 85th minute.

M. Sanan – 5

The teenager from Kerala had a tough time on the left wing. Wasn’t much involved throughout the first half as the right channel was the primary source of traffic. His lackluster show saw him being replaced by Nongdamba Naorem.

Daniel Chima Chukwu –  6

The NIgerian target-man tried to use all his experience and physical presence to dominate the defenders. Was the focal point of JFC’s set-pieces and it felt like something was brewing for the home side. Missed from close range in the 85th minute after a ball from Naorem found him searching. Should have equalised.

Substitutes

Steve Ambri – 4.5

Replaced Rei Tachikawa in the 63rd minute. No proper coordination in the offensive front to put his side on the scoresheet.

Nongdamba Naorem  – 5

Came off the bench and almost assisted Chima but the latter missed from close range. Sharp and agile with his runs.

Provat Lakra – 4.5

Replaced Len Doungel in the 63rd minute. Couldn’t do much to help his side.

Semboi Haokip – N/A

Alen Stevanovic – N/A

Odisha FC (By Projjal Prajna Das)

Amrinder Singh – 7

Not many hiccups for the Odisha FC custodian other than a couple of erratic distributions which fortunately led to no problems for his side.

Narender Gahlot – 7

Crucial build-up play from the back in the first half as he held the reins steady for Odisha FC.

Amey Ranawade – 8

Put up an impressive display playing as a wing-back. In the attacking third, he created 2-3 big chances for his side. Defensively helped in maintaining the clean-sheet.

Carlos Delgado – 8

Resolute play in the back as he didn’t allow Chukwu or Stevanovic penetrate the Odisha defence.

Puitea – 8

The shining Indian star of the Odisha FC midfield. Did a mature job in rotating the ball while carefully creating chances going up the pitch as well.

Ahmed Jahouh – 7.5

Proving why he is the best signing for Lobera. Brought on his A game for the side and dictated the entire game, creating chances at will and holding the fortress for Odisha.

Cy Goddard – 7

Played up to his role as a CAM and created a few good chances for his side.

Jerry Mawihmingthanga – 5

Missed a sitter. Could have played better as an inside forward.

Jerry Lalrinzuala – 8

Maintained a clean-sheet and played a crucial role in build-up on the left flank.

Isak Ralte – 9

Created numerous chances and was a constant threat in the box for the Jamshedpur FC backline. Did his bit in the defence as well. Came very close to scoring a screamer but was denied by the crossbar.

Roy Krishna – 7

Scored the only goal from a curling ball by Jahouh but missed a fair deal of chances to finish off the game.

Substitutes

Aniket Jadhav – 7

Very impressive after coming on to the pitch. Created chances almost immediately. Was also seen tracking back for defensive duties.

Diego Mauricio – 6

Came on as a late substitute in place of Roy Krishna but didn’t get as many chances.

Pranjal Bhumij – 6

Playing on the flanks, he won a couple of free-kicks for Odisha in the dying embers of the game.

Lenny Rodriguez – 6

Like for like replacement for Puitea and was prompt in holding a stable midfield.
