FIFA U17 World Cup sensation Claudio Echeverri reveals his dream club
The Catalans giants are ready to activate the release clause in his deal to sign him
River Plate gem Claudio Echeverri when asked about the club he’d like to play in…
“Besides River, I’d mention Barcelona. I’m a big Leo Messi fan and I used to watch him playing for Barça when I was a kid”.
The major football teams are stepping up their game right now as the transfer window draws near. FC Barcelona are interested in Claudio Echeverri, who is seen as the next “Lionel Messi,” after young players like Vitor Roque, a recent sensation in South America. After an incredible U17 World Cup, the player is leaning towards signing a contract with FC Barcelona.
In addition to playing professionally for River Plate in Argentina, the celebrity is a standout member of his U17 national squad. In the U-17 South American Championship 2023, the player tallied five goals, ranking second only to teammate Agustín Ruberto.
Echeverri has already made his River Plate debut in the Primera Division of Argentina. However, to acquire the star, the Catalan club will need to pay a $27.5 million release clause. Additional sources suggest that Barcelona may be willing to pay considerably more than is being asked for.

He has a good probability of joining because Xavi is reportedly very interested. According to journalist Gustavo Yarroch, “There is a real chance that Xavi Hernandez will leave for Barcelona because he wants Claudio Echeverri.” They wish to pay in instalments for a sum that exceeds the clause.
Like other clubs, Barcelona is keen to sign youthful legs after losing its young phenom Pablo Gavi. And Echeverri is arguably the best player there is.
This season, Lionel Messi’s previous team has had mixed results. Despite having players like Joao Felix and Robert Lewandowski, the team’s inability to attack as much as they would want is evident in their performance.
Numerous elite teams, including Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and the team under consideration, are keeping an eye on the player. The player’s contract with River Plate expires in 2024, but the team is hoping to extend it for a further two years. What, though, is driving the star’s high marketplace worth?
