Barcelona target midfield duo of Verratti & Rabiot in January
Barcelona are looking to find a replacement for Gavi
To be able to fill in for Gavi, who is sidelined for the duration of the season due to an ACL rupture, Barcelona will be searching for a new midfield player during the January transfer window.
To ensure a seamless transition to their planned winter operations, the Blaugrana are striving to achieve a Fair Play margin. To make up for Gavi’s absence, in addition to registering Vitor Roque, the plan is to bring in a new midfield player for a brief six-month loan.
It is believed that the La Liga winners are looking for an experienced player who can contribute to the team during his brief tenure.
Adrien Rabiot and Marco Verratti, two former PSG stars, may thus be options for Barcelona in the January transfer window, according to Jordi Gil of SPORT.

Earlier this year, Rabiot committed his future to Juventus by signing a new contract agreement that will last until 2024. Due to his strong achievements, the Bianconeri are in negotiations about extending his contract, even though he will be entering the final six months of his current one in January.
When Rabiot departed PSG, Barcelona was keeping an eye on him; nonetheless, he decided to join Juventus because of their better offer. He still had six months left on his agreement, so he might think about moving to Barça, but it would be difficult.
First of all, Rabiot’s hefty salary would be a problem for the Catalans, and despite the agreement’s status, Juventus will be hesitant to let him go and would want some sort of compensation. Therefore, in order for Barcelona to have an opportunity, the player may need to force a departure.
Another player who has been a longtime favourite at Barcelona, Verratti, signed a €45 million contract to join Al-Arabi in Qatar this past summer after leaving PSG. His contract there runs until 2025.
If Barcelona were to think about recruiting Verratti, it would have to be on a loan basis, and even then, getting Al-Arabi to agree to a six-month loan is going to be a very tough sell.
