The FIFA Club World Cup will be played in a new format in 2025

The FIFA Club World Cup (CWC) is an international men’s association football competition. The winners of the AFC ( Asian Champions League), CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL Libertadores, OFC Champions League and the prestigious UEFA Champions League.

The first CWC was held in 2000 and has been held every year since then. Real Madrid is the club with the most wins in the competition (5). Let’s take a look at the managers with the most CWC wins.

5. Sir Alex Ferguson – 1

The Scottish manager has a reputation as one of the greatest managers in the history of football. Sir Alex Ferguson has won a plethora of trophies with Manchester United and the Club World Cup is one of them.

In 2008, Manchester United beat Liga De Quito in the Club World Cup final. Sir Alex Ferguson’s star player Wayne Rooney scored the goal with Cristiano Ronaldo assisting him. The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Sir Alex Ferguson as he won his one and only FIFA Club World Cup title.

4. Rafael Benitez – 1

The Spanish manager has led the helm at many big clubs such as Chelsea, Inter Milan, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and many more. It was at Inter Milan where he won the Club World Cup.

Inter Milan won the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup beating TP Mazembe 3-0 in the final. It was Rafa Benitez’s and Inter Milan’s first Club World Cup title. Samuel Eto’o’s brace and Goran Pandev’s goal secured the win for Inter Milan.

Back in 2010, Rafa’s Inter Milan was the first club outside of Europe or South America to contest a Club World Cup final.

One of the greatest players and managers in the history of football. Zidane took on the managerial role at Real Madrid and started an era of dominance in Europe winning the UEFA Champions League consecutively for three years. It was during this tenure that Zidane won two CWC titles with Real Madrid.

Zidane won his first Club World Cup title in 2016 with Real Madrid beating Kashima Antlers 4-2 in the final. Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick and Karim Benzema’s goal ensured an easy victory for Real Madrid.

Zidane again won the Club World Cup in 2017 with Real Madrid beating Gremio 1-0 in the final. Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal ensured another Club World Cup title for Zinedine Zidane.

2. Carlo Ancelotti – 3

Yet another Real Madrid manager who has made his way into the list. Ancelotti a legendary manager has won a Club World Cup title with AC Milan in 2007 and two titles with Real Madrid in 2014 and 2022.

In 2007, Ancelotti’s AC Milan became the first European team to win the Club World Cup with a 4-2 win against Boca Juniors.

Ancelotti won his second Club World Cup title in his first tenure at Real Madrid in 2014. Real Madrid beat San Lorenzo 2-0 in the 2014 CWC final. In 2022, Ancelotti’s Real Madrid gave a tough fight to Al Hilal as they beat them 5-3 in the final to secure Ancelotti’s third CWC title.

1. Pep Guardiola – 4

A genius and maestro both as a player and a manager. Pep Guardiola has won two CWC titles with FC Barcelona, one with Bayern Munich and one with Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s legendary managerial career started with FC Barcelona where he won numerous trophies. His 2009 and 2011 Barcelona side are often considered as the greatest team of all time. In 2009, FC Barcelona became the first team to win the sextuple ( six trophies) in one season. They beat Estudiantes 2-1 to complete their sextuple. FC Barcelona where losing initially but an 88th minute goal by Pedro tied the score and Lionel Messi scored the winning goal in the 110th minute.

Pep Guardiola’s recent 3-0 win with Manchester City against Fluminese shows how good of a manager he is. Manchester City have become a formidable team under his guidance as Pep won his 4th CWC title.
