Morocco were knocked out in the quarterfinals of AFCON 2021
Morocco National Football Team head coach Walid Regragiui has announced his final 27-member squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2023 (AFCON 2023).
Morocco qualified as the Group K winners and are one of the favourites to become the Kings of Africa. They have a squad of talented players featuring some from top European clubs.
Abdelmouniam Boutouil, a top defender in Africa has been omitted from the squad. Regragui has also left out four players who helped Morocco reach the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Zakaria Abu Khalal and Abdul Hamid Al-Sabiri are out due to injury. At the same time, goalkeeper, Reda El Taknaouti and Burnley winger, Anas Al-Zarouri missed out due to a lack of form. These players will miss the tournament because only players on the preliminary list will be eligible to replace any of the final 27 squad members.
