Sheffield United sack Paul Heckingbottom & set to appoint former manager Chris Wilder

Sheffield United finished 9th under Wilder in the Premier League 2019-20 season
Sheffield United dismissed Paul Heckingbottom, marking the first manager termination in the Premier League this year.
Before December of the previous season, Scott Parker of Bournemouth, Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea, Bruno Lage of Wolves, Steven Gerrard of Aston Villa, and Ralph Hasenhuttl of Southampton had all lost their jobs.
Following Saturday’s 5-0 loss against Burnley, the club took behaviour, ending Heckingbottom’s two-year tenure as coach.
The former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is becoming a serious candidate to succeed Heckingbottom and return to Bramall Lane.
United, who have lost 11 of their last 14 games and are currently bottom of the league, are scheduled to speak with the 46-year-old this morning.
The team, who finished second in the Championship the previous year, has been under fire for selling important players Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge during the summer transfer window.
After the humiliating loss at Turf Moor, Heckingbottom expressed his anger at being unable to hold his team together. “Hecky out” was another chant from supporters as the beating concluded.

“I wanted to keep the group together but we couldn’t,” he told the BBC.
“We couldn’t because of the last few years and the financial implications. If we’d tied them down [on longer contracts] then we probably wouldn’t have sold those players.
“There wasn’t a desire from the ownership to sell, but a necessity from a business point of view. We’ve been making financial decisions rather than football decisions. Of course that affects me. I didn’t want it to happen.”
Wilder, who is anticipated to succeed Heckingbottom, led United to progress from League One to the Championship.
After serving as manager for nearly five years, Wilder—a former player for the team—left by mutual agreement in March 2021.
Before departing at the end of the previous season, he worked for Watford for just two months.
