Former Hyderabad FC defender poised to fill in for injured Indian international Sandesh Jhingan.
FC Goa is on the brink of securing the services of Nim Dorjee Tamang, the former Hyderabad FC defender, to fill the void left by the injury of key player Sandesh Jhingan. Jhingan, an Indian international and a pivotal figure in FC Goa’s campaign this season under coach Manolo Márquez, is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The stalwart defender, previously with Kerala Blasters, suffered a significant injury while representing India in their final AFC Asian Cup 2023 match against Syria.
This unexpected setback has disrupted FC Goa’s plans for the last week of the January transfer window. With limited time and options available in the market, the club has had to rapidly adjust its strategy to find a suitable replacement for Jhingan. Enter Nim Dorjee Tamang, whose recent termination of his contract with Hyderabad FC serendipitously aligned with FC Goa’s urgent need for a defender.
Tamang’s familiarity with Coach Manolo Márquez’s methods, owing to their time together at Hyderabad FC, makes him an ideal candidate for FC Goa. A source close to Khel Now revealed, “Nim Dorjee is set to sign a short-term contract with FC Goa as a cover for the injured Sandesh Jhingan.”
This move is strategic for FC Goa, as they aim to maintain their defensive solidity without compromising the team’s performance. With the signing of Tamang, FC Goa looks to continue its robust showing in the ongoing season despite the setback of losing a key player.

Speaking on the severity of Jhingan’s injury, Manolo Marquez said in the pre-match press conference today, “We are waiting on another opinion but the feeling that it is going to be a long-term injury. We will need to sign another player because we do not have a lot of defenders in the squad. It is better to wait until the last moment.”
FC Goa also announced the arrival of Borja Herrera as a replacement of Victor Rodriguez this morning.
