Haven’t spent Christmas and New Year..., Lallianzuala Chhangte pens emotional New Year's wish

Chhangte was the 2022-23 AIFF Men’s Player of the Year.
Lallianzuala Chhangte will be representing India at the upcoming 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar which commences from 12 January onwards. It is by far the biggest tournament that the Blue Tigers will be participating in recent years and the Mumbai City FC winger is an integral part of the team which is hoping to prove their worth on the biggest stage of Asian football.
Being called to represent the national team is a major achievement, a huge personal milestone but it also adds a lot of pressure on a modern professional like Chhangte who also plays for Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) plus other domestic and continental tournaments.

Lallianzuala Chhangte, in a heartfelt post on Instagram, talked about the challenges of being a professional footballer and how it keeps him away from friends and family for extended periods including the festive time. “Answering calls from my country and my club, I haven’t spent Christmas and New Year at home for more than 10 years. I often feel lonely at these times and would just want to trade my work with moments with my family and loved ones at home,” he expressed on the social media networking site.
Hoping for better days
Despite spending precious days such as Christmas and New Year’s Day away from family, the Mumbai City FC winger keeps himself focused thanks to his faith in the Almighty. In his emotional statement, Lallianzuala Chhangte talks about keeping faith in God and believing that better days are not far.
“I’m certain that better days follow trying times. I wish that this new year gives you new hope in your life and I believe there is a reason for you to be alive to see this new day once again. God doesn’t give up on you, He wants to perform many great things through you. Please be ready for Him. Happy New Year,” the 26-year-old concluded.
It is heartening to see the 2022-23 AIFF Men’s Player of the Year, Lallianzuala Chhangte talk about the many challenges he faces as a modern footballer. He is a role model to countless upcoming footballers and this human side of his will make them connect with him on a deeper level.
