Zambia played the entire second half with a man-short

Patson Daka rescued a point for Zambia in the AFCON 2023, after scoring a late equaliser against Tanzania. His team were reduced to 10-man towards the end of the first half. Roderick Kabwe was sent off in the 44th minute for receiving his second yellow card and that too in a gap of 10-11 minutes.

Tanzania started the match with a bang. Simon Msuva scored his first goal and his team’s first of the tournament. Tanzania gave his side a lead in the 11th minute.

Things got heated in the opposition team. Kabwe’s dismissal was followed by a yellow card to Lameck Banda and coach Avram Grant also received a booking.

Tanzania were heading towards their first win in the competition. This is their third appearance in the competition and the team has only collected a single point in seven matches. It looked like Tanzania were heading to their first win in the competition’s history.

Patson Daka had some other ideas and 10-man Zambia stole the show in the 88th minute. The forward scored from his head from a set-piece situation.

This draw means that all teams in Group F have at least earned a point in the first two games. Earlier in the day, Morocco were held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo. Both round two matches in this group ended on a similar scoreline.

Morocco leads the group with four points, followed by DR Congo and Zambia with two points each. Tanzania are at the bottom with a single point.

No team has qualified from this group. Morocco are the favourite to finish at the top and DR Congo have a chance to finish second. Zambia need to play their best football against the Moroccans and take a least a point to strengthen their chances of qualification.
