Andre Onana misses Cameroon’s AFCON 2023 opener against Guinea

Andre Onana started for Man United against Spurs
Andre Onana had to race against time to get to the match after Man United’s draw with Tottenham, but he has already ‘showed up at Yamoussoukro’ before Cameroon’s match against Guinea.
Online users expressed worry after Manchester Evening News reports stated that his aircraft into the presidential capital of Ivory Coast was “blocked due to bad weather conditions.”
He reportedly arrived in time to register for international duty despite this, but The Athletic says that he won’t play in today’s game against Guinea.
The 27-year-old left on the afternoon of Sunday from Old Trafford and started his journey after the match, but on the next day in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, his private jet was grounded because of severe thunderstorms in Yamoussoukro, the venue of Cameroon’s match against Guinea.

At the renowned Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Cameroon will play Guinea on Monday at 5:00 p.m. GMT. Onana, meantime, remains trapped in Abidjan, some 150 miles apart.
Fog has encircled Yamoussoukro Airport, making it unsafe for aircraft to land. According to a Sports Vibes source, Onana will now try to drive himself to the stadium.
Altay Bayindir, who joined United via Fenerbahce in the summer but hasn’t yet been given his debut, is going to be deployed in Onana’s place.
In 2016, Onana made his Cameroonian debut, and in 2021, he participated in AFCON. The goalie made an important stop on a penalty kick to guarantee his team finished third in the competition.
During the Qatar 2022 World Cup, he was Cameroon’s first-choice player until a fallout caused him to withdraw from the team. Following that, he rejoined the national team.
