Chelsea take on Fulham in the West London Derby aiming to bounce back from their midweek loss

With half of the season over, Pochettino has an uphill battle to bring Chelsea into the European places after the Blues’ first leg loss to Middlesbrough in midweek. They still have a chance to finish the season strong with the second leg just around the corner and the FA Cup to win.

After a series of losses, Marco Silva’s Fulham have bounced back in the last two matches. A win against Arsenal has been their season’s highlight so far. After losing to the Blues in the reverse fixture, Marco Silva will be eager to get revenge against them. He has done a good job against the top half sides.

Kick-Off:

Sat,13 January 2024 at 6:00 PM IST

Location: Stamford Bridge

Form:

Chelsea (in all competitions) : L-W-W-W-L

Fulham (in all competitions) : W-W-L-L-D

Players to Watch

Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

This season, Cole Palmer has been the most effective Blues player due to the freedom Pochettino has given him. He has already scored eight goals and has four assists to his name. It will be disappointing for him not to score in midweek when he had a lot of chances.

Raul Jimenez (Fulham)

After struggling to score goals at the start of the season, Jimenez has been on fire in the last few games for Fulham. He has five goals to his name already this season and will be eager to get his name on the scoresheet in the derby.

Match Facts

  • Chelsea are unbeaten at home in the last nine matches
  • Fulham have conceded the most penalties this season
  • Fulham have lost the last matches against Chelsea

Injury and Team News

A long list of injuries has hampered the Blues season so far, with Jackson on international duty for Senegal. However, Pochettino will be delighted to welcome Chilwell and Chukwuemeka to first team training.

With Bassey, Iwoby and Ballo on international duty with Nigeria, Marco Silva has a huge selection headache for this match. Reim and Traore must become fully fit before they can take any part.

Match Prediction for Chelsea vs Fulham

As they haven’t lost in nine home games this season, Chelsea will feel they have a genuine chance of securing three points. Although the Blues have produced inconsistent performances and are coming off the back of a League Cup defeat, the Cottagers will feel they have a chance to cause a setback.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Fulham
