Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United and Ghana has a slight injury concern ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Kudus is still yet to travel to link up with the Ghana squad, due to a minor injury.

‘We are expecting (Mohammed) to join the group hopefully in a few days,’ Chris Hughton told reporters. ‘He has a very slight injury issue that needs to be dealt with before he joins camp, but we’re hopeful.’

Earlier reports suggested the Black Stars coach had rejected the Hammers’ request for the attacker to join the training camp after the game against Brighton.

“Well, I can’t give you an answer on that either, because we have known we have got three or four players who are due to go for the Africa Cup of Nations.

“We have not had confirmation on any of them really on the join-up day which is incredibly strange that has not come about. You would have thought that will have been ready by now and we are still waiting on that.”

“He (Kudus) is a really important player, so he will be to any team. We are hoping that there is a chance he could be [available for the Brighton].”

Black Stars’ head coach, Chris Hughton, at the presser on Monday to announce his squad for the AFCON disclosed the 23-year-old has a slight injury and would join camp at a later date.
