Why Mohammed Kudus is still missing from Ghana's pre AFCON 2023 camp

Kudus will represent Ghana at AFCON
There are five days until the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, but Mohammed Kudus, player for West Ham United, has not yet reported to Ghana’s pre-AFCON camp.
According to reports, the 23-year-old is in Ghana and is camping in Kumasi with the team, where they have been doing a lot of training.
Concern has been raised by the Ghana Football Association’s Henry Asante Twum, Communications Director, who stated that Kudus is on medical leave. Fans of the Black Stars, who think he is the man to change things for Ghana in Ivory Coast, are worried about his absence.
“Mohammed Kudus is in Accra ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. According to the Technical Team, he needs rest after picking up a strain. He will join the team before they depart for the AFCON.”
Before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, West Ham boss David Moyes expected the Ghanaian to play in the match against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Kudus won’t be there for Ghana’s pre-AFCON exhibition on Monday against Namibia.
The four-time African winners are due to face Ivory Coast on Wednesday. They have been placed in Group B with Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
“It’s been a fair programme for this time of year for what it could be, but our programme before that wasn’t overly fair. You could argue about fairness in terms of not being able to play Mohammed Kudus or Nayef Aguerd tonight, but other teams could play their African players,” he told West Ham TV.
In the final practice match before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Namibia held the Black Stars of Ghana to a goalless draw.
The four-time African champions dominated most of the match, but they lacked the necessary spark to breach the South African nation’s defence.
Before the competition, which gets underway in the neighbouring nation on Saturday, both teams have been getting ready in Ghana.
