Guelor Kanga Kaku set to meet CAF disciplinary committee for bizarre age scandal

A Gabonese footballer who claimed to have been born in 1990 but whose mother had died in 1985 has prompted CAF to launch an investigation into possible age manipulation.

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), the body that oversees football in the continent, has opened an investigation into the age manipulation of a Gabonese player who claimed to have been born in 1990, however, the analysis reveals that his age claims are not consistent.

Guelor Kanga claimed to have been born in 1990, but it has since come to light that his mother may have passed away in 1985, casting doubt on his claim to be that old.

As a result, Kanga is presently being investigated for possible identity fraud when it was found that the “32-year old” who claimed to have been born in 1990 lost his mother in 1985, or 36 years earlier.

Professional football player Guélor Kanga represents both the Gabon national team and Red Star Belgrade as a midfield attacker.

According to Guélor Kanga, he was born in 1990. After Gabon fielded a player who had falsely claimed to be from Congo, the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) filed an accusation against Gabon. This led to the appeal filed by Kanga, who is actually from Congo.

FECOFA thinks that Kiaku Kiaku Kiangana, who was raised in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, on October 5, 1985, is Guelor Kamga, whose present passport indicates he was born on September 1, 1990, in Oyem.

The Congolese believe the star of Res Belgrade fabricated his identity when he joined GBI, a second-level team in Gabon.

They contend that unless his mother had resurrected and given birth to him, which is impossible, the player would not be considered born in 1990 if she had died in 1985.

The Gabonese Football Federation may face charges of forgery about the player’s administrative paperwork and non-compliance with FIFA’s procedure regarding his change of sports nationality upon moving from Congo to Gabon, should the player be proven guilty.

These anomalies may result in the nation being disqualified from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022, which took place in Cameroon, and its exclusion from the next two AFCONs.
