How frequently is the AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations) held?
Every couple of years, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) organises the Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament’s initial two iterations were place in Sudan and the United Arab Republic in 1957 and 1959, separated by a mere two years.
Ethiopia hosted the third edition in 1962; Ghana hosted it in 1963; and Tunisia hosted it in 1965. The competition was subsequently staged in Ethiopia in 1968, and from that point on, the AFCON was regularly conducted every two years until 2012.
The contest was held in South Africa in 2013 for the 29th time since it was moved to odd years. Ivory Coast are getting ready to host the 34th edition of the AFCON, which has been held on a two-yearly basis since that time.

When will the AFCON 2023 begin and conclude?
The AFCON will begin on January 13, 2024, at the Olympic Stadium in Ebimpe, with the hosts, Ivory Coast, against Guinea-Bissau. On January 15, 2024, reigning champions Senegal and the Gambia are set to face off in the campaign’s opening match.
The competition’s Round of 16 will begin on January 27, 2024, with the first game to be held at Stade Bouake in Bouake, Ivory Coast. The competition’s final, scheduled for February 11, 2024, will likewise take place at the Olympic Stadium in Ebimpe.
Who is going to host the 2023 AFCON?
The Africa Cup of Nations 2023, which will begin on January 13, 2024, is set to be hosted by the Ivory Coast for the second time in the country’s history. The sporting event will be held in six stadiums spread between five cities in the African nation.
