Al Ettifaq's Jordan Henderson offers himself to top European clubs
Jordan Henderson is unsettled in Saudi Arabia
In the words of an article, Jordan Henderson ‘has been offered’ to ‘nearly every Premier League side’, Juventus, and the Bundesliga teams Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.
The former captain of Liverpool, who made a high-profile transfer to Al Ettifaq last summer, is prepared to depart Saudi Arabia after just six months.
The 33-year-old England international’s £12 million move to the Saudi Pro League sparked debate over where he was going as well as how he left Liverpool after 12 years.
Previously a well-known men’s football player who supported LGBT+ rights, Henderson’s choice to play in Saudi Arabia, where homosexuality is prohibited, sparked accusations that he had compromised his morals to get money.
Jordan Henderson claimed that the challenge of growing football in Saudi Arabia was what drew him to the idea in a now-famous interview with The Athletic. Nevertheless, many recent reports claim that the midfield player has had difficulty adjusting to life in the Middle East.
Henderson’s family is reported to be located in Bahrain, a bordering island nation, as opposed to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, where Al Ettifaq is based.
On the football, Al Ettifaq is struggling and hasn’t triumphed in a match since October.

According to reports, the Steven Gerrard-led team has only averaged 7,800 gates thus far in 2023–24, with occasional matchday attendance of less than 1,000.
Jordan Henderson is ‘desperate’ to get back to Europe, although he hasn’t submitted a formal transfer request yet, as reported by talkSPORT.
According to the article, Henderson has made himself available to Bayern Munich, who are rumoured to be searching for a “number six,” and Bayer Leverkusen, the top team in the German Bundesliga under the management of erstwhile Red Xabi Alonso.
It is also said that Henderson’s identity was allegedly ‘circulated’ to Juventus and ‘nearly every’ team in the English premier league.
TalkSPORT reports that in addition to his dissatisfaction with the game and his way of life, Henderson is driven by a worry about not being selected for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 team this summer.
