Rafael Leao is enduring a frustrating season with just three goals

PSG and the Premier League group according to reports, Newcastle United are in the running to sign AC Milan forward Rafael Leao in the summer.

Leao, 24, proved to be an important member of the Rossoneri’s first squad this season, contributing six goals and the same number of assists in 26 games—of which he started 23—across all competitions. Since the 2019–20 season, the Portugal international has appeared in 189 games throughout tournaments, totalling 49 goals and 42 assists.

Even though the attacker has an agreement with the Serie A giants through 2028, there is plenty of competition for his services. According to Fichajes.net (via Telefoot), PSG are considering signing Milan’s No. 10 in the summer, even though he has a massive €175 million transfer clause.

Following their summer acquisitions of Goncalo Ramos, Ousmane Dembele, and Randal Kolo Muani, Luis Enrique’s team has a revamped offence centred on Kylian Mbappe. Newcastle, who are also contemplating obtaining Leao, is a rival to them.

Leao may be drawn to the Parc des Princes by his prior employment with PSG sports director Luis Campos at Lille.

PSG is now enjoying another successful campaign, particularly at home. After 19 games, they are ahead of Nice (38) in second position in Ligue 1. Their lead is six points.

Sunday, January 28, is Enrique’s team’s Ligue 1 home match against Brest. In the top division, they have prevailed 13 times and lost one time. They have also won four of their past five games.

After defeating Toulouse 2-0 earlier in the month to win the Trophee des Champions, the Parisians will also play Brest in the Coupe de France Round of 16. That match takes place on February 7. At the Parc des Princes, there was the first championship of the Enrique era.

PSG placed second in their UEFA Champions League group, behind Borussia Dortmund. On February 14, they take on Real Sociedad in their own backyard in the opening leg of the Round of 16, seeking to avoid losing this early in the continental tournament for the third time in a row.
