Nigeria’s Victor Boniface ruled out of AFCON 2023 due to groin injury

The forward has suffered an injury during training
Victor Boniface, an attacker for Bayer Leverkusen, is ruled out of the upcoming African Cup of Nations 2023. He has injured his groin and will stay in Germany for treatment. The forward is expected to be out for upto six weeks.
As SCORENigeria was informed by a source, it is a muscular injury. Victor Boniface did not play in the Dubai club Al Gharib’s practice game on Sunday, so he won’t play in Guinea’s final AFCON get ready later today.
Since then, Victor Boniface has had a scan to ascertain the extent of the damage. Coach José Peseiro put Sadiq Umar, an attacker for Real Sociedad, in the striker’s place.
It should be mentioned that Kelechi Iheanacho, the fourth forward on the final roster, is frantically trying to get fit for the AFCON.
The friendly against the Guinean Syli Stars on Monday (today) is also anticipated to be missed by the striker.
