East Bengal have already signed a replacement for Jose Pardo.

East Bengal FC have received a major setback in their aspirations for a successful conclusion to the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023/24 season with the unfortunate announcement of Jose Pardo’s injury, which will keep him out for the rest of the season. The club issued an official statement providing details about Pardo’s injury, which occurred during their recent away match against NorthEast United FC.

Head coach Carles Cuadrat took to social media platforms to share the message as well, expressing his feelings over Pardo’s injury. Jose Pardo, renowned for his extraordinary abilities on the field, played a crucial role in East Bengal’s remarkable journey in winning the Kalinga Super Cup as well as in the ongoing ISL season.

However, the club wasted no time in addressing the situation and announced the signing of Serbian defender Aleksandar Pantić as a potential replacement for Pardo. Pantic’s arrival is expected to bolster East Bengal’s defensive capabilities and provide stability in the backline as the Serbian centre-back has played for clubs like Villareal, Cordoba, Eibar, and Alaves in La Liga.

Club statement

Earlier today, the club took to their social media handles where coach Cuadrat shared the loss of Pardo. He said, “Unfortunately, we have to bid farewell to a very loved player from our Super Cup-winning squad. A bad foot injury during our match against NorthEast United means an early end to the season for Pardo. He is a true champion. His inmense contribution during our victorious Super Cup campaign helped the club win a trophy after 12 years, Good luck, Pardo! We wish him a good and speedy recovery!”

As the club rallies to adapt to Pardo’s absence and welcomes Aleksandar Pantić to their ranks, East Bengal FC remain determined to push forward and continue their pursuit of glory in the ISL 2023/24 season. While the loss of Pardo is undoubtedly a setback, the team’s spirit and resolve remain unwavering as they strive to overcome challenges and emerge stronger in the face of adversity with the addition of the expertise of their newly signed Serbian defender.
