ISL 2023-24: NorthEast United vs East Bengal – Build-up
The Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 action returns to Guwahati after a long break as Juan Pedro Benali’s NorthEast United FC host century old East Bengal. This will be the second game for both sides after the resumption of the league.
The Highlanders will be keen to settle scores for all the humiliation that they have been put through by the Red and Golds over the last last couple of seasons. East Bengal on the other hand will look to capitalize on their great run of form.
The Highlanders have looked a better side both in terms of their style of play and operations off the field. They put up a brilliant show at the Kalinga Super Cup and finished second in their group with two wins in three matches.
They come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw against Jamshedpur FC where they fought back from behind in the second half. Moreover, they will be eyeing revenge against East Bengal who have put them through very difficult moments.
East Bengal FC have become a completely revamped side under Carles Cuadrat. They are playing well, scoring goals and also accumulating points. They ended their trophy drought with the Kalinga Super Cup triumph last month as they got the better of Odisha FC.
They come into this game following a 2-2 draw in a high voltage Kolkata derby last week. It was their first ever point against Mohun Bagan in the ISL. They have an undefeated record in Guwahati and will look to build upon that.
