Luke Shaw has been injury-prone this season
Manchester United said that Luke Shaw would be absent for “a few months” of the season, meaning the team will be sans an experienced left-back. In addition, the England international will be absent from the Three Lions’ exhibitions against Brazil and Belgium the following month.
Gareth Southgate is worried about the full-back’s conditioning in front of England’s June 16 Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.
Luke Shaw’s injury will keep him out for “a few months,” according to Manchester United, which means Erik ten Hag is going to be missing a reliable left-back.
Erik ten Hag claimed that the choices he made to substitute Shaw were preventative in both of United’s prior games—at halftime against Aston Villa and in the opening half of the team’s 2-1 triumph against Luton.
On their official website, United reported the news, stating that “we expect him to be absent for a few months, but additional testing remains required to assess its severity.”
Shaw, who has played in 12 games for the Red Devils this season, has been in and out of the lineup due to persistent niggles. Additionally, the left-back was sidelined for the first three months of the campaign due to an additional injury.

Due to a knee injury, Lisandro Martinez was additionally out for a period of eight weeks. Their backup left back, Tyrell Malacia, is also out due to a long-term injury. Since June of last year, the Dutchman has not taken part in any club games.
Shaw’s replacement has been natural centre-back Victor Lindelof. Prior to Sergio Reguilon’s loan agreement expiring in January, Sergio Reguilon was on loan at United from Tottenham. Currently, Brentford is borrowing Reguilon.
Though Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s stint on the medical bench has left United without a right-sided full-back, right-back Diogo Dalot has been playing on the left of the Old Trafford team’s back four.
Alvaro Fernandez, United’s second left-back alternative, who made an impression while on loan at Preston in the Championship last season, is no longer with the team. He was sent to Benfica in January after being called up from a brief stint at Granada.
