Marco Reus came close to leaving for free last summer but opted to stay at the club
This summer, Marco Reus may finally leave Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. The German is being pursued by MLS teams and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
For Marco Reus, the first half of the entire campaign concluded in a frustrating way when he was left out of the starting lineup for Borussia Dortmund.
However, the 34-year-old recovered this past weekend against Darmstadt, scoring a goal off the bench. With just over six months left on his current deal, the former BVB captain’s future is still up in the air.
Borussia Mönchengladbach is reportedly considering signing Reus in the summer on a free transfer, according to BILD on Tuesday. However, Sky Sport has subsequently refuted that report, stating that Gladbach’s style will not mesh with the aggressive midfielder.

It is unclear whether Reus will sign a new deal with Borussia Dortmund; negotiations are unlikely to start until the end of the current campaign.
After serving for 12 years at BVB, Sky Sport asserts that it is impossible to rule out Reus leaving the team this summer. But how he does in the second half of the season will determine whether or not he stays with the team.
In 23 appearances throughout all tournaments thus far, Marco Reus has six goals and three assists to his record, showcasing his talent. He stated earlier this month in a conversation with Sport1 that he is currently focused on getting BVB back on track and is not considering his future.
Despite Reus’s history of injuries, Ten Hag is apparently amenable to having the Germany international on board.
The 33-year-old, who consistently posts strong numbers when healthy and on the pitch, would be a useful asset in the attacking role.
