AFCON 2025 Preliminary round draw: List of fixtures

Morocco will host AFCON 2025
Only a week from the hosts’ victory in the finals in the African nation of Ivory Coast, the selection process for the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers for the competition in Morocco the following year took place in Cairo on Tuesday.
Four two-leg knockout ties involving the bottom eight ranked competitors will take place between March 20 and 26.
The lowest-ranked squad, Somalia, was paired with Eswatini, while Sao Tome & Principe faced South Sudan. Djibouti plays Liberia, whereas Mauritius plays Chad in the remaining two matches. Mauritius and Liberia have both previously made it to the Cup of Nations finals in the past.
Along with 44 other nations, those who won one of the four preparatory round ties move on to the qualifiers’ group round.
The two teams with the highest scores from each of the 48 teams’ groups of four will advance to the finals in Morocco.

Morocco hopes to compete in the Cup of Nations in mid-2025, although the Confederation of African Football has not yet announced the date of the group stage selection or the Cup of Nations finals. This could conflict with the recently extended Club World Cup in the United States.
By the conclusion of the year, the Cup of Nations finals qualifications will be finished. There are two rounds of fixtures in every single one of the three international windows, which are September, October, and November.
