Matchday 24 of LaLiga 2023-24 is set to be underway

Xavi’s side won the LaLiga title last season and will have ambitions of clinching the championship this campaign as well. However, things are not going perfectly for the Blaugrana. The Catalan side are 8 points behind Real Madrid, while Girona are six points ahead and sitting 2nd in the table. Xavi’s side will need to go on an incredible run to have any chance of getting close to the title.

Barcelona will head into the La Liga match against Granada this weekend on the back of a 3-1 victory over Alaves away from home in the league. It came after a 1-0 victory over Osasuna in front of their fans in LaLiga which followed a 5-3 defeat to Villarreal in the league.

Granada are looking to turn things around in the final 15 matches of the season to ensure they remain in the top flight next season. They have collected just 12 points from their 23 matches this season and are second from the bottom right now. They are 8 points adrift of safety and are hoping that a win over Barcelona will help them regain some confidence and get some momentum ahead of the business end of the season.

Kick-Off:

Sunday, 11th Feb 2024, 08:00 PM (GMT), 03:00 PM (EST)

Monday, 12th Feb 2024, 01:30 AM (IST)

Stadium: Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys

Form

Barcelona Form (All Competitions): W-W-L-L-W

Granada Form (All Competitions): D-L-L-L-W

Players to Watch

Fermin Lopez (Barcelona)

Fermín is an energetic, right-footed central midfielder, who also has the versatility to play as an attacking midfielder and winger. He is technically proficient, has great movement off the ball, is adept at exploiting space, and chips in with a healthy number of goals and assists.

Sergio Ruiz (Granada)

He does a lot of his work in the half-spaces but also offers a strong presence in the central channel. Rather than starting centrally, he often uses his starting point in the half-spaces to create larger spaces in the central channel. His two most prominent technical traits are his abilities to beat players on the dribble and keeping possession with excellent one and two-touch play.

Injury and Team News

Balde is set for a lengthy period on the sidelines, having had an operation on the hamstring injury he picked up against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey. Roberto recently joined the injury list at Barcelona, with the midfielder expected to be unavailable for another few weeks due to an Achilles problem.

Ter Stegen has made significant progress in his recovery from a back operation, and the goalkeeper is thought to have a slight chance of being included in the squad for this match. Due to injury, Felix, Torres, Raphinha and Alonso will also miss out. Vitor Roque was sent off in the previous after he picked up two yellow cards. The young Brazilian’s sending-off was appealed by the Blaugrana, but they could not get it overturned.

Granada are sweating on the fitness of Raul Fernandez ahead of their clash with Barcelona. They will be without Kamil Piatkowski after he was sent off in the draw against Las Palmas last weekend. They have no other injury or suspension issues and will have most of the squad available. However, Ignasi Miquel and Ricard Sanchez are a yellow card away from getting suspended from the next game.
