Chelsea identify Xabi Alonso as potential Mauricio Pochettino successor

The Argentine manager has come under intense pressure after 4-2 defeat to Wolves
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen as a possible successor to Mauricio Pochettino, according to the French daily Sports Zone.
Boos erupted across Stamford Bridge at full time during Sunday’s 4-2 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers, drawing criticism for the Argentinian.
After the game, the Argentine manager said, “We are feeling the pressure at the moment, we are not matching the history of the club, that is true.”
Sports Zone claims that Chelsea’s owners may be thinking about replacing the manager right away. Behdad Eghbali is keen to invest in the Spaniard right away and is considering Liverpool and Bayern Munich as summer targets for Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen. Todd Boehly, though, might be less amenable to the team making an instant management switch.

Chelsea is now ranked 11th in the Premier League after failing to advance this season despite making significant summer investments in the playing roster once again.
Despite giving up eight goals in their past two Premier League games, the Blues are still alive in both cup competitions, and they will play Liverpool in the EFL Cup final later this month.
Leverkusen has played some of its greatest football in the Bundesliga during the past ten years under Alonso’s leadership. After 20 games, Leverkusen is the only team in all of Europe still without a loss at the top of the League standings. Based on his recent impressive performances, Cesc Fabregas believes that the Spaniard might be the perfect Klopp replacement.
According to Fabregas, Alonso’s experience as a player for Liverpool gives the Leverkusen boss a good knowledge of the calibre of play demanded of the present team.
In addition, Fabregas emphasised Alonso’s ability to adjust to the playing style of a specific league, alluding to his time as a coach at Real Sociedad B in Spain prior to joining the German team. Among the other qualities Fabregas thinks make the Spaniard a strong coach are his thoughtful game organising, player leadership, and upbeat demeanour.
