The midfielder would have preferred Chelsea “to be in another position,” according to Enzo Fernandez’s agent, who also gave an important update on the Blues’ future.

Enzo Fernandez has been under fire for what is seen as his lack of influence in Chelsea’s midfield while being a key component of Pochettino’s plans this season. After leaving Benfica for £106.8 million ($131 million), he has failed to reach his full potential and, given the team’s recent troubles, has become the subject of transfer rumours.

The World Cup winner’s representative has reaffirmed Fernandez’s dedication to the Chelsea mission and categorically denied rumours that he is leaving the team.

“The player has no intention of leaving,” he told AS.

“The leaders were very clear with this project. It is a plan that was going to be difficult at the beginning because new and young players were going to arrive, but when the pieces of the team fit together well, Chelsea was going to move forward.”

“I really don’t understand why reports came out of nowhere about Enzo planning to leave Chelsea”. We know the plan of the club, plan of the owners. He’s happy and wants to stay”, told ESPN.

However, Perez maintained that the athlete is committed to reversing the situation in London and added:

“Fernandez’s desire is to be on the team and succeed. We don’t meet with any clubs or try to talk to any clubs. We know what the player’s desire is. Obviously, he would like the club to be in another position, but that will be achieved with work.”

Fernandez was supposed to spearhead Chelsea’s aspirations in England and later Europe, together with Moises Caicedo. Pochettino’s use of the dynamic midfield tandem has drawn criticism, though, as their synergy seems to be broken, which frequently results in half-baked build-up during games.

Fernandez has made appearances in twenty of his side’s twenty-three Premier League games this year. The Argentine has only scored two goals and provided one assist for the Blues this season in the English Premier League, indicating that he has struggled to produce the desired result.
