Igor Thiago: Profile, playing style, scouting report
Igor Thiago will join Brentford next season
Brentford have finalised the signing of Igor Thiago as a probable replacement for Ivan Toney, who is likely to leave the club in the summer. The Bees have signed 22-year-old Thiago to a five-year contract with a one-year option.
The Brazilian striker is going to sign a formal contract with the team on July 1st and play out this season with his present team, Club Brugge.
This season, the 6′ 2″ attacker has bagged 16 goals for Brugge in the Belgian Pro League and another 10 goals in games played in the Croky Cup, Europa Conference League, and European qualifying.
According to reports, the forward will cost almost £30 million.
“I’m very pleased that we have been proactive as a club; big credit to Matthew Benham, Phil Giles, and Lee Dykes for the hard work they have done,” remarked Brentford manager Thomas Frank regarding the signing. We are pioneers in this regard.
The decision was made in the midst of heated rumours around Bees star player Toney’s future.
Additionally, Bees supporters are happy that the team has been active in the market ahead of any possible transfer.

Born on June 26, 2001, Igor Thiago Nascimento Rodrigues, better known by his nickname Thiago, is a Brazilian professional football player who plays forward for Club Brugge of the Belgian Pro League.
Thiago made his official appearance on January 22, 2020, when he began for Cruzeiro against Boa Esporte Clube in a Campeonato Mineiro game.
Following several reports, Thiago officially signed a contract with Ludogorets Razgrad, the Bulgarian winners, on March 2, 2022. In order to more easily blend in with the Bulgarian group, he signed Ludogorets II. On April 18, he played a league appearance with his new team against Litex Lovech, collecting his first goal in the process. A week afterwards, in the league game against Dobrudzha Dobrich, he netted two goals for the second team.
Thiago inked an agreement for four years with Belgian Pro League team Club Brugge on June 12, 2023. Ludogorets’ payment set an all-time high for a Bulgarian club.
Igor playing style
During the previous season, Igor Thiago often took up while playing for Ludogorets. The Brazilian featured as the #9 in Ivaylo Petev’s favourite 4-3-3 formation for the Bulgarian champions.
The 22-year-old is far from being your average centre-forward. Although Thiago spends most of his time in and around the penalty area, he occasionally drifts wide, creating room for the midfielders to sprint past him and use his skill in one-on-one dribbling situations to challenge opposing defenders.
In addition to dropping into midfield, the striker will look for openings to receive the ball; his 11 assists across all competitions in the last campaign demonstrated his capacity to act as a provider on occasion. The Brazilian, who stands 6’2″ tall and has a rather muscular build, is also highly physical and doesn’t back down from opponent contact.
