Macron has earlier convinced Kylian Mbappe to remain at PSG
Only a few weeks after telling Paris Saint-Germain that he would be leaving the team after the summer, Kylian Mbappe is going to be the unexpected guest of French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Tuesday night.
Since relocating to Parc des Princes in 2018, the France captain has emerged as the team’s main player, but he has long been connected to a sensational move to Real Madrid. After years of speculation about a move to the Bernabeu, the 25-year-old has finalised terms with the LaLiga team; however, neither PSG nor Real Madrid have released an official statement declaring the player’s decision.
The World Cup winner, who presently makes an astounding £21.4 million (€25 million) net per season in the French capital, is expected to accept a significant salary reduction upon joining Carlo Ancelotti’s team, according to a story published by Mail Sport last week.

Though, according to Le Parisien, President Macron could have tried in the past to sway Mbappe’s choice to flee his own country, the footballer will be welcomed to dinner on Tuesday night in commemoration of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the incoming Emir of Qatar.
PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is in charge of the team’s Qatar Sports Ventures holding category, will be seated next to Mbappe during the meal. The premier of France is believed to have invited Sheikh Tamim to the nation’s capital in an effort to facilitate talks between Israel and Hamas on a truce and the release of captives.
After the striker submitted a letter to PSG in June explaining the choice he made not to extend his contract, which ends this summer, Mbappe was quick to refute at the end of the season before that Macron had tried to persuade him to stay at the French club.
