Mohamed Salah is doubtful to face Chelsea in Carabao Cup final
Jurgen Klopp is doubtful whether any of Liverpool’s injured players will be available for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final match against Chelsea.
Relegation-fighting Luton gave a weakened Reds team a fright on Wednesday night, but a strong second-half performance from Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and skipper Virgil van Dijk saw all four players score.
Liverpool’s 4-1 comeback victory sent them four points ahead atop the Premier League standings and guaranteed that they would remain there when they resume top-flight play following this weekend’s trip to Wembley.
Due to a conflict with the Carabao Cup final, the match against Luton was moved forward, leaving the hosts shorthanded by 11 first-team players. Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were among those sidelined, along with Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak.
After scoring with an incredible lob, Nunez knew something was wrong, and at halftime of Saturday’s expensive 4-1 victory against Brentford, he was substituted. Jones also had an injury in the first half, while Jota, who is now anticipated to be sidelined for months, was carried off the pitch.

After making his first appearance since sustaining a hamstring injury while travelling with Egypt to the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast last month, Salah was reportedly experiencing muscular tiredness.
Hungarian midfielder Szoboszlai was earlier mentioned by Klopp as having a remote possibility of playing against Chelsea, even though Alexander-Arnold and the other Liverpool participants had already been ruled unavailable for the championship game.
Pep Ljinders: “Alisson, Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones are expected to be out until after the March international break”.
“Szoboszlai, Nunez and Salah for the final? We have to really see. We have two more days, we will check”.
