Paul Pogba tested positive for taking testosterone booster
The World Anti-Doping Code stipulates that a four-year penalty is the typical duration. Paul Pogba, a midfield player for Juventus, tested positive for DHEA in August. Pogba will challenge the suspension in the Court of Arbitration of Sport.
The motion of the Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office to impose the four-year sentence, which is the standard duration of a penalty under the World Anti-Doping Code, was granted by Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal (TNA).
Paul Pogba’s suspension began on the day he tested positive and will last until August 2027. It’s unclear if his career will continue after the ban ends because he would be 34.
Pogba will file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) against this ruling, according to Sky Sports in Italy.Following Juventus‘ August 20 match against Udinese, the 30-year-old player was sidelined as a precaution in September after testing positive for testosterone metabolites in August of last year. The France international sat on the Juventus bench but did not participate in the Serie A encounter.
in October Pogba will try to erase his record following a positive test for the hormone DHEA, which stimulates the body to produce more hormones, including testosterone. Rafaela Pimenta, Pogba’s representative, emphasised that “Paul never wanted to break the rules”.
Pogba requested a counter-analysis of his positive drug test results following his original suspension, but those findings also revealed a positive result.
After his positive doping test in December, Italian anti-doping prosecutors asked for a maximum four-year suspension.Pogba chose not to enter into a plea agreement with the anti-doping agency, therefore the matter was heard by the anti-doping court of the nation. If an athlete can demonstrate that doping was accidental, the consequence of contamination, or they can offer “substantial assistance” to investigators, their four-year anti-doping penalty may be lessened.

Paul Pogba released his statement after being banned for four-years:
“I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect. I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me.”
”When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.”
”As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against. As a consequence of the decision announced today I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”
