As Inter Miami prepares for the upcoming MLS season in Asia, there is only one question in everyone’s mind. Will Lionel Messi play Inter Miami’s next friendly or not?

Inter Miami played against Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal in their first pre-season match in Asia. The match saw four former Barcelona teammates against Neymar’s team. Messi started this match and was on the scoresheet. A seven-goal thriller ended 4-3 in favour of the Saudi club.

Next, Inter Miami played against Al Nassr in another friendly match. This was a highly anticipated match as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were going to face each other.

Fans were disappointed after it was announced one day before the match that Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn’t be featuring against Inter Miami. There was another setback after Lionel Messi was only judged fit to make it to the bench.

Al Nassr scored six past Inter Miami. Lionel Messi came off the bench towards the end of the game.

Lionel Messi and his team were in Hong Kong for their next friendly game. A jam-packed stadium was waiting for the World Champion to take centre stage. However, the fans were left disappointed after the Argentine was left on the pitch. He remained on the bench for the entire game and the ticket holders demanded a refund.

There are some positive signs and Leo might entertain the crowd. He said,

“The truth is that I feel very good compared to a few days ago,” Messi said, speaking in Spanish. “And depending on how that [training] goes. And if I’m honest, I still don’t know if I will be able to or not. But I feel much better and I really want to be able to do it.”

“The truth is that it was bad luck that I couldn’t [play] on the day of the Hong Kong match,” Messi said, adding that the “discomfort continued and it was very difficult for me to play.”

“Unfortunately, in football, things can happen in any game, that we may have an injury,” he added. “It’s a shame because I always want to participate, I want to be there, and even more so when it comes to these games when we travel so far and people are so excited to see our matches.”
