Unai Emery’s team is competing for a spot in UCL next season
Aston Villa will be in a difficult situation next summer. Villa have to sell some players in order to avoid breaching Premier League profit and sustainability rules.
The key players who could be sold for a healthy profit are Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey. Arsenal have shown their interest in the Brazilian. Newcastle United are behind another midfielder, Jacob Ramsey.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Brazil international and there is a possibility that Mikel Arteta’s side might bid for the 25-year-old. Arsenal are monitoring him and according to the Daily Mail, Villa may be forced into player sales at the end of the season to fund a summer spending spree.
Unai Emery and his men are currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table. They are five points clear of Tottenham Hotspur, who are fifth and have a game in hand.
Emery and Villa transfer chief Monchi are thought to be ‘desperate’ to improve their squad and selling Luiz for a hefty fee may help them do just that.

Luiz has made a total of 188 appearances for Villa to date, conjuring up 22 goals and 21 assists.
The 25-year-old arrived at Villa Park from Manchester City in 2019 following two seasons out on loan in La Liga with Girona.
Newcastle United are behind £50m-rated Jacob Ramsey. Villa could make some more money by selling their homegrown player.
Aston Villa raised funds by selling some other academy graduates, including Ramsey’s brother Aaron to Burnley, Cameron Archer to Sheffield United and Jadon Philogene to Hull City which indicates they could repeat the strategy.
This will be a difficult situation for Villa. Unai Emery will be hoping to bring in new faces if these two go. As of now, the team has their eye on European football next season.
