Gareth Southgate becomes latest addition to Manchester United's list for Erik ten Hag replacement
United have made a list of managers who could replace Ten Hag at the club
In addition to Roberto De Zerbi and Brentford coach Thomas Frank, Manchester United have shortlisted England manager Gareth Southgate to succeed Erik ten Hag.
As the Red Devils’ miserable season continues, a number of players are already anticipating Ten Hag’s dismissal, which is something that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new co-owner of United, is considering doing in time for the upcoming campaign.
After the British billionaire bought a 27.7% share in the team last month, Ratcliffe and his INEOS colleagues were formally appointed to the United football hierarchy. They are presently evaluating a number of prospects, including the three players described above.
Since taking over as Brighton’s manager in September 2022, De Zerbi has garnered praise for his outstanding job on the south coast and has led the Seagulls into the Europa League for the primary moment in their history.

However, Liverpool and Barcelona are also being connected to the Italian coach, so there is clearly interest from both sides. According to reports, his Brighton pact has a £12 million release clause. As his contract with the FA expires in December, Southgate could be managing his final tournament as England’s coach this summer.
The 53-year-old is well-liked by former FA chief Dan Ashworth, whom Ratcliffe and the other co-workers intend to appoint as United’s new sporting director following Newcastle’s reluctant decision to place him on gardening leave.
Frank’s name, though, is the most unexpected because, as ESPN report, the Dane has made waves at Old Trafford with his ability to create a dynamic team at Brentford while adopting a data-led recruitment strategy. Even though the Bees are only six points outside the Premier League relegation line and have only won once in their last seven games, Frank’s reputation is still good. However, Ten Hag could save his United career if he can help the Red Devils finish strong after a markedly disappointing campaign. Ten Hag might have two trophies in two seasons if United were to win the FA Cup and finish in the Champions League positions.
