Newcastle United are sitting 10th in the table
For the majority of the season, Newcastle United have struggled with a long injury list. However, with more players returning to practice and the pitch this week before their Premier League matchup with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, the list is finally beginning to get shorter.
In Tuesday’s thrilling FA Cup fifth-round triumph over Blackburn Rovers via penalty shootout, Joe Willock earned his first start since November, Elliot Anderson made his first start since October, and Harvey Barnes gained more playing time as the Magpies prevailed in a hard-fought match at Ewood Park.
Sadly, Eddie Howe won’t have his entire roster at St. James’ Park since a few important players are still sidelined. All of the most recent injury news and updates, as well as all of the details we know about the players’ anticipated return dates, are compiled below.
But in that match, they managed to give strong starts to Alexander Isak and Joe Willock, and Eddie Howe welcomed Elliot Anderson back to the first team following a four-month layoff. Arsenal’s victory over Newcastle United last weekend allowed Wolves to overtake them in the standings after their victory over Sheffield United.

According to Premier League injuries data, the Magpies have missed an incredible 1,333 days because of injuries before their campaign began on August 11.
When you consider Sandro Tonali’s 10-month suspension, Newcastle have been struggling this season. Once more, it’s important to keep in mind that the majority of those injuries were to players who would typically play a significant role in our season rather than just benchwarmers.
When you take all of this into account along with the genuinely incredibly challenging cup draws we’ve had in each competition, you have to ask yourself: are the Magpies cursed? Or have they simply been binge-watching Supernatural too much?
