The Gunners comfortably got the better of the Toffees.

Arsenal took on Everton in a Matchday 8 fixture of the Premier League 2026-27 at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Goals from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel sealed a 2-0 win for the Gunners.

The hosts made a flying start to the match and got a lead in the seventh minute, with Ezri Konsa scoring from a corner. Arsenal continued to dominate proceedings from then on, putting pressure on Jordan Pickford’s goal.

The Gunners scored their second goal in the 68th minute with a fluent move. The ball was played to Ben White on the right flank, and his cross was headed into the back of the net by Gabriel. This goal confirmed the win for the home side, who went level with Manchester City at the top of the table.

Five things we learned from Arsenal vs Everton match:

Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere

1. Absences hurt the Toffees

Already boasting the smallest senior squad in the Premier League, Everton were further hampered by two injury-enforced absences.

Star defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who has started every league match so far, was unavailable under concussion protocols after suffering a nasty head-on collision with Emiliano Martínez during the match against Chelsea. Jack Grealish also missed out due to sickness.

The pair were replaced by Jake O’Brien and Brennan Johnson, respectively. The replacements understandably failed to have the required impact against the defending champions.

2. Gunners get first set-piece goal

For a team often accused of scoring exclusively from set pieces, Arsenal had not scored a single goal from a dead-ball situation this season… until today. The opening goal was pure Arteta-ball, with an inswinging delivery aimed towards Gabriel.

The Brazilian defender’s header was somehow saved by Jordan Pickford, but the loose ball was poked into the back of the net by Ezri Konsa for his first goal for his new club.

Most of the credit for the goal must go to Gabriel, whose physicality overpowered the visitors’ defence. The Brazilian also scored his side’s second goal of the night. Not a bad way to mark your 200th Premier League game.

3. Gyokeres makes most of start

Having played second fiddle to Kai Havertz so far, Viktor Gyokeres made his first league start of the season today. The Swede made the most of the rare opportunity, registering an assist for Konsa’s opening goal.

Gyokeres seems to have a natural understanding with Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, two other fringe players who did well after getting a nod in the starting lineup. This will be good news for Mikel Arteta, with Christos Tzolis and Bukayo Saka being out injured.

4. Lewis-Skelly shines once again

Deployed in his favoured left-back position after a long time, Myles Lewis-Skelly had an outing to remember at Emirates Stadium. The youngster made the joint-highest number of defensive contributions in the first half, effectively taking Brennan Johnson out of the contest.

He was also good going forward, playing multiple final-third passes as well as creating a chance with his delivery. Lewis-Skelly will hope that Arteta takes note of his performance and gives him more opportunities at left-back.

5. Title race back on

Although it is still very early in the season, Manchester City threatened to pull away at the top after winning all their matches so far. However, their 100% record was halted by Aston Villa, who won 2-1 earlier today.

Now, the Gunners’ victory against the Toffees puts them level on 21 points at the top of the table. Arteta’s men are well and truly back in the title race and will have a chance to create some distance between them and the challengers next week.
