Top fve youngsters who impressed in Bundesliga 2021-22

Bundesliga is one of the elite European leagues. It has highly talented footballers and the league is also famous for its attacking brand of football. Furthermore, German clubs tend to give a platform to young footballers hungry to make it on the big stage. It is not a surprise that upcoming youngsters choose to play in the German league for teams like Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and more.
The 2021-22 season saw several young players that are attracting a lot of attention. The following five youngsters were impressive in particular. Here is a look at five youngsters who impressed in the Bundesliga 2021-22.
5. Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich)
Jamal Musiala is only 19-years-old and already impressing the fans of FC Bayern Munich. The midfielder had a breakthrough season and is a huge prospect for the future. As opposed to playing 1458 minutes in 2020-21, Musiala played 1980 minutes of football in 2021-22.
He scored five goals and made five assists in the league itself, recording over 30 appearances. The German international is a very versatile midfielder who can play multiple roles. He can play as a creative midfielder or a wide player. His flexibility is a huge asset.
4. Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Leipzig)
Dominik Szoboszlai signed for RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg in January 2021. The attacking midfielder has the capability of playing in multiple roles across the midfield. He can also play as a false No.9 and a centre-forward if the situation calls. During the 2021-22 campaign of the Bundesliga, the Hungarian international managed 31 appearances.
The 21-year-old scored six goals and made eight assists during that time. He played 44 matches across all competitions for the club. When it comes to creative midfielders with huge potential, then Szoboszlai is definitely a part of the conversation.
3. Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund)
Jude Bellingham made headlines after leaving Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund. The 18-year-old already has 11 caps for the English senior national team. He is one of the most promising midfielders in Europe and was a consistent performer for the German club over the 2021-22 campaign.
He made 32 appearances in the league, scoring three goals and providing eight assists. Bellingham also won 433 duels, the third-best tally for a player in the league. It will be interesting to see for how long Dortmund manages to retain the player. Almost every elite English club is after his signature.
2. Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkeusen)
Moussa Diaby was one of the strongest performers of the 2021-22 Bundesliga campaign. The former Paris Saint-Germain player now represents Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga after joining the club in 2019. His display in the competition has been improving steadily. During the 2020-21 season, the Frenchman scored four goals and provided 12 assists in Bundesliga.
In comparison, in the 2021-22 season of the competition, the winger scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 32 matches. The 22-year-old scored 17 goals across all competitions and made a huge mark on the league, helping Leverkusen finish third.
1. Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkeusen)
Florian Wirtz has a huge reputation in German football despite his young age. The 19-year-old was impressive for Bayer Leverkusen across the 2021-22 campaign. An attacking midfielder by trade, Wirtz is a European U21 champion with Germany. He is currently valued at €70.00m and will only get costlier by the day.
As far as numbers are concerned, then Wirtz had a very productive time in the league. The midfielder managed seven goals and 10 assists in merely 24 appearances. He also scored three goals and made four assists in six UEFA Europa League outings for the club. Al major German clubs are interested in signing the teenager.
