The club will weigh their options carefully to replace the outgoing striker.

The time of Robert Lewandowski at FC Bayern Munich is set to end. The Polish international recently opined that his time at the German Bundesliga outfit was “over”. “As of now, it is certain that my story with Bayern Munich is over and I cannot imagine further cooperation with the club after what happened in recent months. I think the transfer will be the best for both parties,” he said recently confirming his intention to move.

The 33-year-old still has a year left on his contract but is adamant about a move, as it seems. It makes no practical sense for FC Bayern Munich to retain the player who wants to leave, amidst interest from FC Barcelona. In a situation Robert Lewandowski leaves the club in the summer window, there will be a need for a replacement.

There are a few players in the market that could replace the striker who scored 35 goals in 34 league matches last year. Here is a look at the five players who can replace Robert Lewandowski at FC Bayern Munich:

Patrick Schick

If the Bavarians are looking for a striker with Bundesliga experience then they have to look no further than Patrick Schick. The 26-year-old made headlines at the UEFA Euro 2020 by scoring five goals, joint-top with Cristiano Ronaldo. He plays for Bayer Leverkusen and has 24 goals and five assists in 27 league appearances for the club.

The chance to play for a dominant club such as FCB will be too good for the Czech Republic international to reject. It will cost around €40.00m to bring Schick to the club. He could be a smart move considering his best years are ahead of him.

Darwin Nunez

The best way of replacing Robert Lewandowski would be to sign the hottest forward available in the world football market at the moment, Darwin Nunez. The striker’s position does not have a whole lot of choices in the market. This makes the SL Benfica player even more valuable. He is young and has tons of potential. The 22-year-old scored 34 goals and made four assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

The obstacles in signing Darwin Nunez are aplenty although. FC Bayern Munich will need to outbid clubs like Manchester United which is also interested in the player. Furthermore, he will cost around €100m which may be difficult for FCB to match.

Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane made his intentions clear about wanting to leave Liverpool FC. The Cameroon international is looking for a fresh challenge after winning multiple trophies with the Reds. He is strongly linked with a move to FC Bayern Munich as well.

The 30-year-old is versatile and can play as a striker and a wing forward. A lot depends on how Bayern Munich intends to use his qualities if they sign him. He will not cost a lot in transfer fees as there is only one year left on his contract. Moreover, the player is looking for a move which will further bring down the asking price.

Luka Jovic

There was a time when Luka Jovic was considered one of the most promising strikers in Europe. The 24-year-old struggled for gametime since moving to Real Madrid and spent brief periods on loan to his former club Eintracht Frankfurt to find his goalscoring form. The Serbian played only 549' minutes of football and is desperate for more gametime.

Luka Jovic has previous experience playing in the Bundesliga. He has 29 goals and eight assists in the competition. Real Madrid would be open to selling him and cutting down on their losses on the investment. FC Bayern Munich would need to pay around €16.00m only for the player, a fee Bayern can earn by selling Robert Lewandowski.

Jonathan David

Jonathan David has impressed during the previous two campaigns in Ligue 1. And many pundits believe he is ready for the next big challenge. The Canadian forward is also rumoured to be on the wishlist of the Bavarians as they look for a young replacement of the Polish international.

However, being the youngest name of the list, David would need time and patience from the club and the fans to grow.
