On the other hand, the 2025–26 Jordanian Pro League champions, who are also the top-seeded team in Group D, succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Uzbek side Pakhtakor in the ACL Elite Qualifiers to settle for a spot in AFC Champions League Two group stages.

Habas’ side drew first blood after the former Real Madrid reserves striker Dani Ramirez scored in the ninth minute of the game. Defender Anwar Ali struck in the 40th minute, giving East Bengal a handsome lead of 2-0 just before halftime.

It was sixty minutes on the clock, and India’s solitary hope in ACL Two was up by two goals with thirty minutes of regulation time to spare. But the hosts unleashed and pulled one back in the 61st minute after Almardi made it 1-2.

East Bengal fought tooth and nail to protect their slender lead, but the unshakable force from the Jordanian side saw them score the equaliser in the 87th minute, courtesy of a goal from Assaf.

The game ended 2-2, and both sides had to settle for a point. The Red and Gold Brigade would be gutted after a draw, especially when they were leading 2-0 until 60 minutes.
