Mohun Bagan vs Ravshan Kulob Player Ratings: Thapa, Rai stand out as Liston, Cummings underwhelm | AFC Champions League Two 2024-25
The Mariners fell short of ideas and lacked a clinical edge in the final third.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant were held to a 0-0 draw by FC Ravshan Kulob in their first match of the 2024-25 AFC Champions League Two on Wednesday (18th September).
After a cagey first half, the Mariners had as many as four big chances to score late on – but saw most chances squandered to kick off their continental campaign with a frustrating draw at the Salt Lake Stadium. Here are the Player Ratings for the game.
Mohun Bagan (by Uttiyo Sarkar)
Vishal Kaith – 6.5
Kaith was sharp in goal in the first half, making a super save to deny Rahimov. Moved the ball around well.
Asish Rai – 7.0
Proactive at the back and did well to neutralize Ravshan’s movement through his side. Rai won three duels, made two interceptions and four possession recoveries in a sturdy defensive effort, but lacked that attacking bite.
Dippendu Biswas – 6.5
A bit overly aggressive with his challenges at times, but Dippendu held himself well against foreign opposition. Won six duels, made two tackles, and moved the ball forward relatively well with 70+ passes.
Tom Aldred – 6.5
Tom held together a pretty strong defensive line for Mohun Bagan, not allowing the opponents too much space. Made three blocks and 70+ passes, distributing things well.
Subhasish Bose – 6.0
Subhasish was pretty solid down the left, anticipating moves well with his game-reading skills. Won three duels, two interceptions, and four recoveries – but very ineffective moving forward.
Deepak Tangri – 6.0
In his first start of the season, Tangri held together a tight midfield line with three duels won and two interceptions. But had almost zero influence with forward passes.
Anirudh Thapa – 7.0
A diligent, proactive figure in midfield who kept a toothless Mohun Bagan side ticking. Thapa made some nice forward passes to kick-start nice moves and won back possession eight times, as well as making two clearances.
Manvir Singh – 5.5
Manvir was a hard-working figure on the right, adding more defensive solidity as he won five duels and made two tackles. But a frustrating figure moving forward, losing the ball quite a few times and being unable to create anything.
Sahal Abdul Samad – 5.0
Despite being defensively proactive, making four tackles, Sahal struggled at what was really expected of him – creating chances. Only completed 10 passes, lost possession many times, and lacked a spark in an unfamiliar left-wing role.
Dimitri Petratos – 4.5
Petratos lacked that special spark in his game and couldn’t really influence a thrilling attacking display for his side. Created a few half-chances, but most of his passes went astray and his set-piece threat was missing too. Missed a big chance late on after a one-on-one chance and hit a shot over before the final whistle.
Jason Cummings – 4.0
Cummings’ lack of speed held him back in this game. Most of his good moments came when he withdrew into a deeper role to kick-start attacks. Couldn’t get at the end of many promising forward passes and missed a huge one-on-one chance late on, summing up his frustrating outing for Mohun Bagan.
Substitutes
Lalengmawia Ralte – 7.0
Apuia added more steel and efficiency in Mohun Bagan’s midfield, moving the ball forward swiftly and creating a big chance for Cummings which he squandered.

Greg Stewart – 6.5
Stewart created a big chance for Liston late on with a wonderful pass, only to see it squandered.
Abhishek Suryavanshi – 6.0
Added a bit more composure and defensive sturdiness in midfield. Booked late on.

Mohun Bagan players sometimes beat the defender who was lucky that his team did not concede. Made one crucial clearance in the third minute of stoppage time.

A decent performance from the defender. Played on Ravshan Kulob’s right side and fulfilled his defensive duties with four clearances, two tackles, and five interceptions.

The defender was not as impactful as he was substituted out in the 66th minute.

A decent day for the midfielder who maintained a passing accuracy of more than 73% in the opposition half. Took 2 shots on goal, one was blocked at the half-hour mark and another in the 59th minute. Created a chance in the 59th minute, which was wasted.
David Mawutor – 6.0
The midfielder won four duels in the middle of the park but his passes were rarely progressive. Also helped in defense.
