Brandon Fernandes: List of all trophies and individual honours

Brandon Fernandes has been a sensational talent in the midfield.
Brandon Fernandes is one of the most creative midfielders to have come out of Indian football in the 21st century and has proven his quality by making a mark in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The 30-year-old midfielder enjoyed his best years for FC Goa, spending seven years with the club before having departed in the summer. He joined Mumbai City FC to venture on a new chapter in his career and is also starting to gain a bigger role in the Indian national team under Manolo Marquez.
Brandon Fernandes spent a major chunk of his youth career developing his skills at a famous South African soccer school in ASD (African Soccer Development) Cape Town. He even made his professional debut for them in the SAFA Second Division, the third-tier of South African league football.
Brandon Fernandes had attracted interest from clubs like Leicester City, Sunderland and AS Monaco during his youth ages, but was destined to make his mark in Indian Football. He has been involved in Indian football for over a decade, building up an impressive CV by wracking up some admirable honors over the years.
Trophies with India
Brandon Fernandes made his debut for India in the 2019 Kings Cup in their game against Curacao. He did so after impressing for FC Goa in the ISL and has been able to keep a spot for himself in the Blue Tigers squad over the last five years.
The 30-year-old midfielder has made 28 appearances for India over the years, picking up seven assists and averaging a goal contribution every four games. He has also been part of the Indian side, won a few trophies in the post-Stephen Constantine era and was one of India’s most creative talents in the Igor Stimac era.

Brandon Fernandes has won multiple international trophies with the Blue Tigers over the years, with his most prominent contribution coming in the 2023 Tri-Nation Series success when he provided an assist in the decisive 2-0 win over the Kyrgyz Republic to help India clinch the crown in Imphal.

Trophies with India U-20
Brandon Fernandes had a memorable outing in the 2014 Lusofonia Games held in Goa. He was part of the Goa Indian side that participated in the tournament and proved his quality by ousting the players of other Portuguese-speaking nations.
Fernandes scored a brilliant goal in the semifinal to help his side pick up a comfortable 2-0 win over Macau. But Brandon’s best performance was reserved for the final when he blew away the Mozambique players. The midfielder scored a goal and provided two assists in India’s 3-2 win over their opponents to clinch the gold medal.

Trophies with FC Goa
Brandon Fernandes enjoyed the best years of his domestic career at FC Goa, who signed him from Churchill Brothers in 2017 and gave him a prominent role in their system. The midfielder worked his way up the pecking order in the Gaurs’ midfield and quickly made himself an indispensable part of their team.
In his seven years with FC Goa, Brandon was able to win three trophies with them. This included a couple of domestic tournaments where he proved his quality in such knockout-based competitions. He played a key role in helping the Gaurs win their first piece of silverware in 2019 in the Super Cup.
He scored three goals in four appearances for the Gaurs, including the decisive winner that bagged them the trophy. Fernandes was also in prolific form in the 2019-20 season when FC Goa won the first-ever ISL league shield championship.
Brandon Fernandes had eight goal contributions in the regular league season in 16 appearances, which included six assists. He ended the 2019-20 ISL season with seven assists, the most for any Indian player in the league.
The 30-year-old midfielder played a decent role in their first-ever Durand Cup win in 2021 too, scoring one goal.

Individual honors for Brandon Fernandes
Brandon has made quite the mark in the ISL over his career, making 107 appearances in the competition – in which he’s scored eight goals and provided 24 assists. He was Indian with the highest number of assists in the 2019-20 season, but of course, didn’t get any award for it as he wasn’t the one with the most assists in the overall tally.
In terms of individual honours, In 2021 Brandon was awarded the ‘Men’s Breakthrough Performance of the Year’ award at the RPSG Indian Sports Honours award show.

What trophies are yet to be won by Brandon?
Brandon will be looking to win the illusive ISL Cup title with Mumbai City, having failed to win that particular piece of silverware at FC Goa.
He should also push to win several coveted individual awards in this new chapter in his career. Fernandes has not won the AIFF Men’s Player of the Season award so far in his career. Neither has he won the ISL MVP (Player of the Season) award.
The 30-year-old must also dream of becoming an Arjuna Award winner if able to produce huge numbers and prove himself as one of the premier sportspersons in the country.
