Mohun Bagan Super Giant began their Durand Cup campaign in Group A, where they made a statement with three wins from three.
The Mariners opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory in the Kolkata derby, before putting together back-to-back dominating wins. They thrashed South United 8-0 before cruising past CISF Protectors 6-0 to finish the group stage with confidence
Their quarter-final against Jamshedpur FC, however, proved considerably tighter. The two sides played out a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, with Mohun Bagan eventually prevailing 9-8 on penalties to book their place in the last four.
Now, they face defending champions NorthEast United FC with a place in the final against East Bengal FC at stake.
