Javier Siverio will be donning the No. 9 jersey, whereas Pol Moreno will have No. 4 on his back.

FC Goa are ready for the next season with their first assignment on the cards in the form of an ACL 2 preliminary round fixture against AL Seeb. The club is back on the Asian stage for the first time after the 2020-21 season, when they represented India in the AFC Champions League. With some new signings, the Gaurs are ready to show their mettle when they take on Oman’s Al Seeb.

The fans are excited for the season as they can see the upward trajectory for the club. FC Goa finished the last season with a heroic win in the Kalinga Super Cup final against Jamshedpur FC. Their Super Cup triumph gave them a ticket to the ACL 2 preliminary round.

This is a must-win encounter for Goa if they want to qualify for the group stage. A loss here would eliminate the club and drop them to the AFC Challenge League, the third-tier continental club competition. The Gaurs would host Al Seeb at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda, on August 13, giving the fans a chance to witness their players showing their class on the Asian Stage.

The last time FC Goa played in an Asian Club competition, they made sure they left their mark. With 3 points and 3 draws, the club put up a gritty performance, making it tough for resilient West Asian sides like Al Rayyan and Al Wahda, who had some big names in their rosters.

New faces and new numbers

Manolo Marquez, who is now completely focused on the Goa job after his departure from the national team, has revitalized his side with some reinforcements. The club has been busy this summer, bolstering the squad with signings like Javier Siverio, Pol Moreno, David Timor, and Harsh Patre.

Now, the club has handed out jersey numbers to these new faces. Some of the old players will also have new jersey numbers on their backs. Siverio, being a striker, will wear the number 9. Moreno, Timor, and Patre will have 4, 24, and 23, respectively, on the jerseys.

The Serbian Dejan Drazic will now wear number 71 as opposed to 8, which he was wearing last season. This has also made fans wonder why the Serbian has chosen that jersey number.
